Bristol is famous for Brunel’s spectacular Clifton Suspension Bridge, an absolute must see when visiting Bristol. For a brilliant view of the Suspension Bridge across the Avon Gorge it’s worth a trip to the Clifton Observatory, Camera Obscura and Cave, but this one is best saved for a clear day to really appreciate the views.
To find out more about the city’s fascinating history why not visit one of the many museums such as the City Museum & Art Gallery or the Bristol Industrial Museum that looks at the city’s maritime and industrial heritage. There’s also the lovely Blaise Castle House Museum an 18th century house cataloguing what life was like back then.
Although Bristol has a strong maritime heritage, since the Harbourside’s recent overhaul this area is now better known for its trendy bars and restaurants. A quick way to get to know the area is to take a tour on one of the many ferryboats.

When it comes to shopping check out
the Broadmead Shopping Centre and the Galleries with
over a 100 stores to choose from. Clifton and in
particular the strip known as Whiteladies Road and Park
Street, are packed full of interesting shops where you
can pick up more individual items, perfect for present
shopping.
The Arnofini, situated at Narrow Quay
on the Harbourside, is one of Europe’s premier
contemporary arts centres, boasting an interesting
programme of dance and film. For theatrical productions check what’s
on at the Bristol Hippodrome or the famous Old Vic
Theatre
If you like the odd
tipple of the famous Harvey’s Bristol Cream then check out
the 13th century Harvey’s Wine Cellars, where you
can find out all there is to know about its production and the
